Born from a love of nature and storytelling through pattern, colour, and craftsmanship.
Lydia Hill Designs embeds environmental activism within beautiful everyday objects to inform, inspire and encourage mindful living. The studio reinterprets rich heritage design with a modern sensibility, aiming to balance timeless elegance with a fresh, playful energy.
Lydia Hill Designs was founded by artist and textile designer Lydia Hill, following her graduation with a First-Class BA (Hons) in Textiles from Manchester School of Art, where she also received a Highly Commended Make It in Design Award. Lydia went on to complete an MA in Textiles at the Royal College of Art, graduating in 2025.
Now working between London and her countryside studio in Shropshire, Lydia creates hand-painted art, textiles and homeware inspired by the natural world, while also working as a freelance designer on bespoke commissions, surface pattern design and creative collaborations across interiors, textiles and lifestyle products.
Inspired by endangered British wildlife and fragile ecosystems, Lydia’s work aims to both delight and inform. Each design begins as a hand-painted illustration, thoughtfully crafted to honour both beauty and meaning, often using delicate natural inks handmade in her studio. With a focus on bold yet refined pattern, her collections balance joy and playfulness with quieter moments of reflection on the natural world.
More than decorative, Lydia’s designs for interior and lifestyle products serve as a gentle invitation to mindfulness. Many pieces are accompanied by illustrated information cards offering simple, eco-conscious actions, encouraging thoughtful living and a deeper connection to the environment.
Sustainability sits at the heart of Lydia Hill Designs. Collections are developed using high-quality, environmentally conscious materials and produced in collaboration with ethical, UK-based manufacturers. Products are printed using non-toxic dyes, packaged plastic-free, and often incorporate recycled content. Each order also supports tree planting through a partnership with Ecologi.
“By weaving environmental awareness into every design, I hope to spark meaningful conversations and a greater appreciation for the world around us. With each piece, I seek to share nature’s joy, highlight its fragility, and celebrate its intricate beauty — while taking small but meaningful steps towards helping preserve it.”
